My Brand-New Wal-Mart Haul! (w. scans & comments)

What is special about this is not that the haul is brand-new...well, it is, but that's not to what I refer in the thread title. You know what I mean. Actually, I guess you don't. So I'll tell you. A brand-spanking-new Wal-Mart just opened up here. (first for my city) How brand-spanking-new you ask? Yesterday morning brand-spanking-new. So, I decided to pop in and see what I could find.

For the most part, the harder-to-find stuff had already been taken. For instance, the newer Batman waves were there, but no Mr. Freeze or Killer Croc. However, I did notice there is a new 2-pack in the KC wave which includes Zipline Bats and the ever-elusive Robin. Just a heads up for those who haven't found 'em. Also, there were 3 or 4 pegs of the LOTR Trilogy re-releases, but they were bare. There were even 2 or 3 families within the time-span I was there who asked about them.

They did have newer TMNT stuff, such as Hun, April, and the Sports Turtles. First time I had ever seen any of those up here.

They also had a new wave of AOME single-packed figs and the new Fellowship set.(which kind of sucks, Gandalf was essentially brown)

But anyhoo, enough of my dilly-dallying. On to the haul. Yeah, yeah, no digicam, but I did make the effort to scan 'em up.

First off we have this little guy. I haven't purchased a SW fig since Episode 1, which was back when I first started collecting, and didn't have priorities. Why are they not high priorities? Because they suck. But, when I saw this little bugger, I just had to buy him. Because Yoda kicks ass, and I was impressed by him, for a SW figure that is.


He comes with some very cool accessories, including his lightsabre and walking stick. (obviously) But, he also comes with an energy beam, which attaches to his arm and can hold up a detachable piece of the base. (as if he's throwing or stopping it. I was impressed by that, a nice surprise.

Next up to bat is Super-Poseable Spidey from the Spider-Man 2 line.


I bought him to go along with Web-Trap Spidey, which I bought last week. (re-packaged for transport purposes)


Now, despite sporting 10 additional articulation points(6 of which are in the fingers), I would venture out on a limb and say Web-Trap is more poseable than Super-Poseable. Mainly because SP's torso joints don't do shit. I'd say the sculpt and paint are better too.

If you're only going to buy one Spider-Man 2 fig, make it Web-Trap. He even comes with a cool base. It's a piece of street & sidwalk with a lamp post. (webbing hangs off of it by string, but could be cut off.

Finally...finally, we come to the best part. Transformer Alternator Smokescreen. I always said if I were ever to buy any Transformer, it would be one of these. It just so happens that I found one today for the first time ever in Kanadur. The best part? The sign said $35 CDN, but it was only $30. Sweet deal.



I've got one more item to show, but that didn't come from Wal-Mart. Will have to carry on in the next post.

Here be the last item. Ultimate X-Men Hard-Cover #3. I like this comic, but not enough to buy each individual issue. So I buy the HC's, which I can get for an amazingly awesome price at Amazon.ca.

Alternators rule! And the line is only getting better with the upcoming toys, Viper, Jeep Wrangler, Corvette and more.

I'm a huge fan of the super poseable Spideys cause you can make them do silly stuff:



And I may have break down and try one of those alternators. Cool haul !!

Yup, the Alternators are amazing. I'm hooked. The engineering behind them is just phenomenal.

I'm gonna need them all. [img]frown.gif[/img] I just hope Wal-Mart keeps getting them. I really don't want to have to order them.

Yeah, I really can't get enough of Alternators, they have given me a totally new outlook on toy collecting. In the past I had always gone a little overboard buying complete toy lines even if I only really liked half of it just so I'd have the full set. But for 20 bucks you get a dead accurate licensed car AND a super articulated robot. So I've now found it hard to pay 10 dollars for a Kevin Smith INaction figure when they dont have any accessories or articulation, when for the price of two of them I can get a big, ass kickin bot. They really are amazing, they are the only toys that I play with on a regular basis, transforming back and forth.

As long as there is a steady flow of Alternators, Movie Maniacs, Spawn, Stikfas, and Tortured Souls, I'll be a happy collector.
